Good morning students, families and staff! Here is your Monday Morning message from Ms. Kasner and Ms. Page.
Happy Week 2 of Phase 3 Distance Learning! We MUST begin by saying we are extremely proud of each and every one of you – students, parents, caregivers, and staff! This has been an incredibly steep learning curve for many of us and we know it has been both frustrating and empowering at the same time. Please remember that we are here to support you and help guide you through this tough time. And, in some cases, YOU are even teaching US. So thank you, thank you, thank you!
The updates for this week are as follows:
— Remember that your teachers have been putting in a lot of effort to provide work online, meet with you regularly on Zoom and provide support through phone calls and online office hours. While the work provided isn’t quote-unquote “mandatory”, it is highly encouraged! While we know learning from home can be difficult for some, we encourage you all to put forth the same effort at home that you would at school. This is your educational journey; you are learning new things, learning new ways, being more independent and developing lifelong skills. Keep up the awesome work.
— Ms. Kasner and Ms. Page will be holding a weekly Office Hour on Zoom for parents and caregivers every Thursday from 11:00am-12:00pm [the Zoom link and password were shared in Ms. Kasner’s email]. We will be available to clarify any questions you may be holding. As always, you may reach out to your child’s teacher for any questions, and we are here to support you as well.
— We want to reiterate that during Phase 3, your child’s learning may look different depending on their age and grade. Each teacher is putting forth their best effort to meet the needs of your child. At the same time, we are encouraging our teachers to take care of themselves and their own families. Please remember to hold compassion and grace for your child’s teacher as they also navigate these special circumstances. We want to make sure everyone is in good physical and emotional health. There is nothing more important than everyone’s well-being at this time.
— Yearbooks! Please check the communication from your teacher regarding yearbooks. They will be mailed to your home address if you bought one online. If you did not update your mailing address, we will have them shipped to our school and distribute them to you in the future.
— Starting this week, the After School Program has put together 30-minute interactive group sessions for students through Zoom. [Please see the documents sent in Ms. Kasner’s email for your child’s grade level and schedule]. For further questions, you may contact the ASLP coordinator, Bel Estiva at 415-531-3934 or email at bolivar@bacr.org.
As always, we are here to support you and your family. Have fun during Week 2 of Distance Learning.
Sending love and hugs to you all,
Ms. Kasner and Ms. Page
