Principal’s Message ~ December 3

Welcome to week 16! We were so happy to be back and see all our students and families on campus this week. While we only have a couple weeks before Winter break, our students and teachers continue to work hard while finding time to celebrate with one another. We would also like to wish a very happy Hanukkah to all those who celebrate. Please see our updates for next week below.

Updates & Reminders:

1. COVID updates: As the winter months and holidays are upon us, please remember to stay vigilant and practice prevention strategies to keep you and your families safe.

  • We still have Color Lab testing kits available for students who are showing symptoms or who have been identified as close contacts.
  • Pick up a testing kit from FSK & drop off the kit at any of the following locations. Make sure you administer the test and drop off the test kit on the same day.
  • Based on updated guidance from SFDPH, our District is NO LONGER accepting home tests as proof of negative COVID status. Rapid tests performed at a clinic or doctor’s office and PCR tests are acceptable.
  • Please make sure to review Dr. Matthews’ recent email regarding updates about COVID:  The SF Department of Public Health (SFDPH) has assured us that San Francisco is relatively well positioned to handle COVID-19 and its variants because of our high vaccination rates, our high booster uptake, and other local health measures such as masking and testing. Health officials continue to emphasize the importance of vaccination, boosters, and other prevention strategies needed to protect against COVID-19. Everyone 5 and older can get vaccinated and boosters are recommended for everyone 18 years and older. Thank you for following all of our SFUSD COVID safety practices including daily screenings, masking, testing and quarantining.

2. Students of the Month for November: This past month, we recognized students for their global, local & digital identity! These students demonstrated their readiness to tackle a changing world, navigate new technologies and engage in inclusive communication. See which students took home a certificate! Congratulations to all our nominees.

3. December is Inclusion & Celebrating Learning Differences: This month, we celebrate inclusivity and learning differences. Check out our virtual IDEAS Gallery to learn about various learning differences, people who live with these differences and resources to gain more understanding. December 6th – December 10th is our District Inclusive Schools Week Rebuilding Our Inclusive Community Together! Check out SFUSD’s Resource Guide for more info. You can also register for District events throughout the week.
