Community & Inclusivity

Principal’s Message ~ October 18th

Welcome to week 10!  We want to give a shout out to our awesome family/parent volunteers for always supporting our school in many ways.

Our Move-A-Thon Team has done a great job at kick starting this year with our big Fall fundraiser! It has been inspiring to see our students taking initiative during the Move-A-Thon and reaching out to family and friends for donations.  We also want to appreciate the hard work of our Science Sack volunteers for getting the sacks organized and sent out to students in K-3G.   As we continue to monitor the progress of the pandemic, we are easing into allowing more opportunities for families to volunteer on campus.  Our amazing Art in Action program will take off in November.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact our AiA Chair (  It is only with the never-ending support of our community that we can continue these school-wide activities and programs.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just a reminder as we approach the cold season, please make sure your child has layered clothing and that all items are labeled.  We wish you a wonderful weekend!

Updates & Reminders:

1. Great California Shakeout:  Earthquake drills are part of our school emergency plan. We will be participating in the Great California Shakeout on Thursday 10/21 to have our students practice what to do in case of an earthquake. Learn more about the Shakeout here. You can further support us by talking with your child about what to do in emergency situations and why we practice at school!

2. Newly elected SSC Members:  Thank you to everyone who submitted a vote for our new SSC members.  We would like to congratulate and welcome Carly Chillmon and Catherine Reid to the SSC for the 2021-2022 & 2022-2023 school years! Cecily Rogers and Jessica Kwalick will serve as alternates. We look forward to working with you all!

3. Halloween is coming soon!   On Friday, October 29th, we will have a Halloween celebration and parade for our students – see more details in our email.  In an effort to minimize crowding, we will not have parents participating in the parade or activities this year.  If students choose to dress up, they should come to school in their costumes and please be mindful that they come in a costume that is comfortable and can be worn throughout the day.  Remember no weapons, fake blood or scary masks will be allowed. We ask that students DO NOT bring any candy to school. If you would like to provide snacks for your child’s class, please check with your child’s teacher.
