Principals’ Message ~ January 10

Happy Week 19!  We’re officially back!  It has been so heartwarming to see our smiling students and families back on campus. While this week may have felt long for a lot of us getting back into the groove, our students’ energy is what keeps us going.

We know the COVID-fatigue is real. We acknowledge what a difficult time it has been for our students, families, and staff, yet, we trust that if we keep working together with the way we have been, we can continue to keep our community healthy. Thanks to your vigilance and amenability, we can continue onward in keeping our entire community safe and supporting each other with love and compassion.

Latest updates on COVID protocols from SFUSD and SFDPH

  • Communication – As guidelines are continuously changing, please make sure you are staying current by reviewing the Family Announcement Bulletins (FAB) from the District and FSK’s Weekly Principals’ Message. We will try to communicate any significant updates weekly.
  • Daily Screening – We ask that all staff and students continue to do the Daily Health Screening prior to arriving at school.
  • Masks – We know that consistent and correct use of masks is a critical step we can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please review the CDC guidelines for appropriate mask wearing and check that your child’s mask fits appropriately. Staff will continue to remind students to cover their noses and mouths properly. If we see that students are not using appropriate fitting masks, we will provide a new mask..
  • Testing – We have Color Lab testing kits available for those FSK students who are identified as close contacts and who are symptomatic. Please see Ms. Betty in the office if you are in need of a test if your student is a close contact/symptomatic. You may also test at various locations around the District.
  • Vaccinations and boosters- if you or your students’ ages 5-11 have not received the vaccination or booster yet, Click here for the vaccine locations available in San Francisco.

Reporting Absences – For all absences or COVID related communications, please email all the following people so that we are all on the same page:

  • Ms. Betty
  • Your child/children’s teacher(s)
  • Ms. Page
  • Ms. Kasner

We’re starting Round 3 of science sack distribution: We hope you enjoyed your Science Sack! Our awesome volunteers have worked hard to prepare and distribute new Sacks for round 3! Please see the attached info sheet for details. Please follow the table for your child’s classroom schedule.

January is Multicultural Month!   Due to the circumstances, we will cancel our usual International Night this year.  We still want to highlight the rich and diverse cultures of our community and hope you can take a moment to discuss & celebrate with your child! You can make a playlist of songs from around the world, try cooking different dishes, take virtual tours of places around the world, and learn how to say “hello” in different languages! Use our virtual IDEAS Gallery to learn more about celebrations around the world and our multicultural FSK staff.

Important dates to remember:

  • Monday January 17th:   No School – MLK Day
  • Monday January 31 & Tuesday February 1:   No school – Lunar New Year Observance
