Happy New Year! Wish you all a year filled with good health, peace, and love!
As we prepare for the new semester and welcome everyone’s return, I am writing to remind you of the safety measures and COVID protocols, especially, during the surge of the Omicron variant. We urge the community to continue practicing vigilance of mask-wearing and daily screening, as well as compassion and mindfulness.
- Daily Screening: We ask that all staff and students continue to do the Daily Health Screening prior to arriving at school.
- Symptoms: Please Stay Home if you have any new or different than usual symptoms:
- Fever (100.4°F/38°C or higher) or chills
- Cough
- Headache
- Sore throat
- Loss of taste or smell that started in the last 10 days (Children may say that food “tastes bad” or “tastes funny”)
- Feeling out of breath or having a hard time breathing
- Diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting
- Fatigue
- Muscle aches or body aches
- Masks – Everyone should wear masks whenever on the school campus. Please check that your students’ masks fit appropriately. Staff will continue to remind/ask students to cover their noses and mouth properly with their masks. Staff will give a new mask to students as needed.
- Outdoor activities – We will continue to hold community activities and class activities outside whenever possible. We always opt for fresh air and physical activity for recess and lunch.
- Jackets – During the winter season, please send a warm jacket to school with your child.
- Lunch – We will continue outdoor lunch unless it rains. We will continue to need help with setting up the picnic tables on Monday morning and putting them away on Friday afternoon.
- Communication – for all absences or COVID related communications, please email all the following people so that we are all on the same page:
- Ms. Betty – lamb1@sfusd.edu
- Your child’s/children’s teacher(s)
- Ms. Page – pagem@sfusd.edu
- Ms. Kasner – kasnery@sfusd.edu
- SFUSD provided information:
- Vaccinations and boosters – if you or your students ages 5-11 have not received the vaccination or booster yet, here are the vaccine locations available in San Francisco.
- COVID-19 Testing Recommendations (please read this link for more information)
- The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), recommends that all students and staff get tested for COVID-19 – regardless of vaccination status – 1-2 days before returning to school or work, even if they are asymptomatic.
- SFUSD is recommending that staff and students follow the SFDPH testing recommendations. Since this is not a requirement, school sites are not allowed to make their own policies.
Updates & Reminders:
- Rainy Day pick up: Thank you to all the parents who weathered the storm with us! We appreciate your patience and compassion as we try to figure this out together. We have created a rainy day plan for pick up (for students who do NOT attend our After-School program). Please see the attached information. Thank you.
- Upcoming dates to remember:
- Monday January 17th: No School – MLK Day
- Monday January 31 & Tuesday February 1: No school – Lunar New Year Observance

- Please Volunteer to help out with Lunch Tables, Stop, Drop & Go, Yearbook, Art in Action, Science Sack, and more areas. Any time you can give is truly helpful for our students and staff. Thank you!
