Community & Inclusivity

Principals’ Morning Message ~ October 13th

Happy Week 9 of Distance Learning! We hope you were able to enjoy an extended weekend. We’re excited to be back together this week. As we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day and continue our conversations about what it means to be actively anti-racist, something we can do as a community is to provide our students with the ability to critically analyze and interpret various perspectives. Sharing counter narratives and the non-Eurocentric view of history, encourages our students to engage in understanding more than the single story while building empathy and understanding for the lived experiences of marginalized groups. See this list of children’s books & blog about 8 ways to observe Indigenous Peoples’ Day with your child.

Our first FSK Move-A-Thon is kicking off today, Tuesday October 13th! Please check your child’s Seesaw or Google Classroom to access their pledge tracker so you can continue to collect donations!  Student pledges can be donated online at   bit.ly/fskdonate  (include your student’s name and class/teacher)      or by mailing a check to:   PTA Move-A-Thon, Attn: Emily, VP of Fundraising, 1530 43rd Avenue, SF 94122;  make the check to ‘FSK PTA’. Please contact Katie Gaertner (katie.clair@gmail.com) or Lisa Rockefeller (lisa.rockefeller@yahoo.com) for more information.
