Welcome to Week 29!
This week, as we compose our message to you all, we do so with a heavy heart. Many of you are aware of the brutal violence and racism that has been taking place against the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) community across the nation. We send our love and strength to all the families who have been affected by these hateful acts. We know that acts of racism against marginalized groups are nothing new and we cannot continue to remain silent. As a community, we must stand together and lift up our voices to speak up against such hate and bigotry. At FSK, we value the partnership between home and school and understand how extremely important it is to continue pushing ourselves to engage in dialogue that sometimes may feel uncomfortable. We must commit to teaching our kids to lead with love, compassion and acceptance. While we are excited to welcome our students and families back to school, we stand in solidarity with our AAPI brothers and sisters and condemn any acts of violence, racism, bullying and hate. Our top priority is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all our students, staff and families. We ask for your help to support each other and take care of each other.

Special Education Town Hall : For families of Students with special needs, please join the district Town Hall meeting to answer any questions you may have: March 22nd from 5:00-6:00pm https://www.sfusd.edu/sped/events-news
The CDC has updated guidelines to allow students to be 3 feet apart in classrooms. As of now, we are still working within SFUSD and DPH guidelines which require us to keep students at a minimum of 4 feet apart. As of now, what we know is:
Our family survey data shows that we have 406 families wanting to return to in-person learning (this is about 17 students per classroom K-3; 23 students per classroom 4-5).
District wants the entire school to remain on the same schedule (offering 5 days of in-person with Wed. ½ day or 2 days in person) however, we have been given permission to have K-3 on one schedule and 4-5 on a different schedule if necessary.
Due to timing and the need to be given approval by SFUSD and DPH to increase our class capacity, we will continue to offer 2 days of in-person for K-5. We are working with the District to see if we may increase capacity but we do not have confirmation at this time. Stay put!
Continue to visit our FSK FAQ sheet for more information.
Teachers school reopening Prep Week: 4/5 – 4/8 (M-Th). SFUSD has given teachers 4 work days to prepare for students returning to in-person. For this week, teachers will hold a morning meeting with students on Zoom from 8:30 – 9:00 and then students will have asynchronous work for the rest of the day. We are still awaiting guidance from the District about Friday 4/9 and will inform you that week.
